Buffalo, NY: A National Hot Spot for Synchronized Swimming

Synchronized Swimming, now known as Artistic Swimming in the international and Olympic communities, has roots in Western New York dating back to 1961 with the founding of the Tonawanda Aquettes.

The Tonawanda Aquettes have marked Buffalo, NY and the surrounding areas as an incubator for excellence in synchronized swimming.

From national championships, to collegiate athletics, all the way up to the Olympic Games, the Tonawanda Aquettes is a name known around the world.

The Tonawanda Aquatic & Fitness Center

The Tonawanda Aquettes are lucky to call the E. William Miller Natatorium home. The 50 meter eight lane pool offers space and amenities to our athletes that far exceed that of most other programs.

The Aquettes have hosted countless local, regional, and national competitions at the Town of Tonawanda Athletic and Fitness Center. National competitions have brought millions in travel & tourism dollars to the local community.

The Aquettes have also hosted elite training camps and National Team exhibitions featuring some of USA Artistic Swimming’s top athletes. 2016 Olympian and US National Team member Anita Alvarez trained in this pool until leaving the Aquettes to join Team USA.

Thank you to the Town of Tonawanda for being a long time, generous sponsor of the Aquettes Artistic Swim Team!

The Tonawanda Aquettes have long been involved in the Western New York community, giving back and participating in community events throughout the Buffalo area.

You’ll find the Aquettes in local parades, doing community service, and partnering with local business for fundraising events.
